Thermaltake SpinQ Heatpipe CPU Cooler Review | Posted on: 31/12/2008 @ 8:18
With the SpinQ, Thermaltake is breaking new ground in aesthetics and design. The blue LED centrifugal fan and innovative fin design make for an interesting product that is visually exciting and would be a definite asset in a windowed case. As far as cooling performance, it is as good, or better than the majority of high-end coolers on the market at stock voltages.

Gaming Performance: Core i7 vs. Core 2 Quad | Posted on: 31/12/2008 @ 0:58
In the review of Nehalem CPU we haven't said anything about gaming performances. Since new X58 chipset has support for nVIDIA SLI and ATi CrossFire, it would be great to see those performances, but that combination would come with hefty price tag at the moment, so we decided to test single graphics card system.

AMD Athlon X2 7750 Black Edition | Posted on: 29/12/2008 @ 0:59
With design of new K10 microarchitecture, by majority of critics, AMD bit off more than they can chew. In beginning K10 wasn't designed for two or single core CPUs. For less cores it was necessary to take "rejected" CPUs and disable faulty cores, and that isn't a cheap process. CPU with disabled core still has same surface area as quad core, and disabled part is totally useless.

Maybe it didn't got too much spotlight because of those two competitors, but iPAQ 914c is mayor improvement compared to its predecessor iPAQ 614.

Nvidia's Solution To Defective GPUs : Buy Our New Chips | Posted on: 26/12/2008 @ 5:44
Nvidia apparently has a solution to the problems faced by many in their notebooks powered by GeForce 8M series, that is, to encourage the OEM/ODMs to buy their new problem free chips. Of course, this doesn't solve the issues faced by current users and there won't be any replacement for them.

OCZ Technology SLI-Ready 2GB DDR3-2000 Memory Kit | Posted on: 26/12/2008 @ 0:10
The OCZ Technology SLI-Ready 2GB DDR3-2000 dual channel memory kit is almost ahead of its time. The motherboard used does support SLI-Ready memory up to 2000MHz, but it did have some trouble staying stable at that speed. Testing really didn't show much advantage over a ‘slower’ kit, and if you can run with tighter timings at lower speeds you may be better off.

The features, specifications, real world performance, and physical appearance are all incredible. It is one of the highest performance cards on the market, while also probably being one of the coolest and quietest. This low noise and low heat is even more impressive when you consider that it isn't just the GPU being cooled, but the CPU and the case, too.

Opinions will vary on this point, and it will be up to the user to decide what's most desirable for a particular platform.

It feels like we've been talking about solid state storage as the future of the hard disk for a long time now, but 2008 finally seems to be the year when this began to turn from mere speculation to reality. When it comes to cases, Coolermaster aren't exactly known for their subtleties. With chassis like the Stacker range that have dominated the large tower market for years, it's about time they introduced something new; but hopefully just as OTT. Their new range is called the HAF, and I'm looking at the 932 model. It's a pretty monstrous in terms of size and cooling ability. Let's check it out.

GeForce GTX 295 Card Exposed | Posted on: 10/12/2008 @ 14:15
The GeForce GTX 295 is based on the sandwich design again like the 9800GX2 with two 55nm GT200 GPUs. As you can see, there are 2 DVI and 1 Display Port. As for the power connectors, it uses 8+6 pins so that gives you a clue how much power this card needs. The pricing is yet to be disclosed but card makers are speculating that Nvidia will price it competitively against AMD 4870X2 card this time.

In addition, the design also provides excellent clearance around the socket while enhancing cooling in the immediate area.

XFX GTX260 Black Edition (GX-260N-ADB9) | Posted on: 03/12/2008 @ 11:15
As announced, nVIDIA presented new GTX260 with larger amount of Stream Processors. This is consequence of the facts that regular GTX260 didn't have expected performances levels and price was too high compared to similar products on the market. Simply put GTX260 was very fast but since Radeon HD 4870 had better performance/price ratio nVIDIA had to do something and as result we have GTX260+.

Zotac's Nitro is a clever little USB gadget that puts the overclocking power of your graphics card right at your finger tips. You can also monitor temperatures and adjust the fan speeds. The best is that all this can be done on the fly, without switching out of your game or benchmark.

Sapphire Radeon HD4830 512MB Graphics Card | Posted on: 02/12/2008 @ 20:40
I am not exactly sure how I expected the Sapphire Radeon HD4830 512MB graphics card to fare during testing, but it wound up looking more like an enthusiast grade card than an entry level offering. It should be able to handle just about any game without having to sacrifice too much in terms of frame rates or settings, making it a great option for the gamer on a budget.
