HIS Radeon HD 4850 IceQ 4 TurboX 512MB review | Posted on: 29/01/2009 @ 8:44

HIS offer a handful of different boards based around AMD's Radeon HD 4850 SKU - Today however we're taking a look at the cream of the crop in the form of the Radeon HD 4850 IceQ 4 TurboX 512MB. With a custom, dual-slot cooling solution and significant core and memory clock speed increases, it should have plenty to offer, so is it a worthwhile consideration for buyers at its particular price point?

It's been a fair few months since we first took a look at the Radeon HD 4670, courtesy of Sapphire's reference-based offering. Now, this well-known AIB are back with a new spin on this mid-range offering, strapping 512MB of faster GDDR4 memory to the board as well as kitting it out with what promises to be a bigger, quieter cooling solution. Are these changes enough to impress? We take a look.

BIOSTAR Radeon HD4650 256MB GDDR3 | Posted on: 25/01/2009 @ 22:09

Graphics card build is excellent and without doubt we can say that this is, so far the best Radeon HD 4850 that we had in our hands and test lab. Power section is one of the best that we saw so far, cooling solution is very efficient and it doesn't take up too much space (single slot). Fan on this graphics card is larger than fans that we used to see on most Radeon graphics cards.

As with all HIS videocards I have reviewed in the past, this product pulls through and does exactly what HIS intended it to do. HIS intended to bring a videocard that is overclocked right out of the box while providing a very stable gaming experience thanks to their attractive and very efficient cooler. To say the least, they did accomplish their goal.

The Baram made a strong first impression for ThermoLab and what they are capable of... I hope to see more products from them in the future. The cooler performed quite well during testing, and for those interested in running their system in near silence, the Baram will cooperate with temperatures that may be better than on some more popular (and louder) coolers.

Thecus took a great NAS and made it even better with the N3200 Pro. During testing, RAID 5 build time was impressive and transferring files with the Pro model is faster when compared to its predecessor.

AMD Phenom II X4 940: Compared to Phenom X4 9950 BE and Intel Core 2 Q9550 | Posted on: 13/01/2009 @ 13:53

In last few years it looked like AMD lost its bearings in CPU market. No one expected that company, that is in constant transition, financial problems and without complete product portfolio, can produce interesting, equivalent and concurrent product. Phenom CPUs with K10 micro architecture didn't claim speed crown from Intel, but they were significant step forward compared to "worn out" K8 cores.

In Win Matrix Tiny Tower Micro ATX Case Review | Posted on: 07/01/2009 @ 6:22

"On the whole, I'm pretty impressed with In Win's Matrix tiny-tower chassis. It has a distinctive look and sports some very nice features for a case of this size. The pearl white/black color scheme is refreshing and the multiple doors maintain a uniform look while providing easy access to the external drives and ports. Best CPU Cooler Performance - Q4 2008 | Posted on: 06/01/2009 @ 18:39

From my experience, 2008 has been a very good year for CPU coolers. We've tested the OCZ Vendetta 2 to perform as well or better than coolers twice its price, and we've discovered that the Thermaltake V14 Pro can deliver top cooling performance while looking good. But heading into 2009 we must bid farewell to the LGA775 platform, which has been the home to many of our most popular products, and ...
