VisionTek Radeon HD 4870 X2 Redux | Posted on: 26/02/2009 @ 11:00

Only after being bested by it could I ever hope to wield it'sÂ… Oh screw it, it's just a video card. I mean, it's the best video card and all, and definitely not for everybody. Actually, as you'll see, it's not really intended for mainstream gaming. You need a damn big display to really see this card make frames. If you're looking to spend serious dollars for the best gaming experience, ...

Sapphire Radeon HD 4830 512MB | Posted on: 26/02/2009 @ 11:00

I don't think there's a "stock" 4830. Sapphire usually runs that route with the non-Toxic or their other variants, but I'm pretty sure that it's up to the board partner to build a better 4830; they're all different. Each has its own heatsink and board layout. Sapphire's is, at least, true to the namesake, and mega-blue.

Diamond Radeon HD 4870 1GB | Posted on: 26/02/2009 @ 11:00

Normally, adding more video memory is a mistake. It's a ploy by the manufacturer to make their card look special, it's a way to make a card sound more capable than it is, and it's a way to tack on a significant sticker price without adding any component costs. Most often with these cards, the larger frame buffer is actually a downgrade. It's cheap, old memory, and much, much slower. The ...

HIS IceQ4 4850 | Posted on: 26/02/2009 @ 11:00

While XSReviews has had the chance to check out GPUs from many different companies, one of the ones we haven't worked with much is HIS, but recently they've decided we're worthy of their attention. With that in mind they've sent us a HD 4850 with their special IceQ4 branding. Let's see how it compares to some of our recently reviewed GPUs from other manufacturers.

Steelseries WoW Mouse | Posted on: 26/02/2009 @ 11:00

There are plenty of gaming peripheral manufacturers out there: Razer, Logitech, Roccat, Revoltec, Cyber Snipa, NZXT and many more. However, one of them that stood out for a while was Ideazon, for their products and keyboard keysets designed for specific games. Since Steelseries recently bought out the brand, they've now released a WoW mouse to come out in conjunction with their keyboard for the ...

Considering how long it took XSR to get it's first high end graphics card review, it's interesting that they are now one of our most oft-reviewed pieces of hardware. Not to be the exception to the rule is our recently acquired 9800GT from XFX. The smaller brother of the more well known GTX branding, the GT saw excellent sales during the 8 series for it's high end performance, with lower end price ...

HIS 4670 IceQ | Posted on: 26/02/2009 @ 11:00

Recently we've been reviewing some pretty high end graphics cards, and while it's all well and good checking out the £100 plus fair, the real money is made for the manufacturers in the budget, to mid range cards. So, if you're looking at the current generation of ATI's GPUs, and anything with 4 and 8 at the start of the name is too much for you, perhaps the 4670 from HIS is up your street; ...

Yes, the Coolbay HX looks similar to the Antec 900, but this chassis from NOX manages to score with additional features, a nice interior paint job and better cooling, making it a choice to be taken very seriously, especially considering the price point.

Benchmark Reviews has been on the web for over a year now. In that time I've had the pleasure of reviewing some very nice higher end computer items, including mid and full tower cases. While I love the high end market I realize for every high end part sold, there are probably 100's of mid to lower end parts sold. So who's buying these parts? Everyone is that's who. So where do they get their ...

The 285GTX is a nice update of the 280GTX. Sure, the core is about the same as the GT200 found on the 280GTX but the card runs cooler and the newer manufacturing technology used for the GT200b chip gives us some more headroom in clock speeds.

"I have to admit, at first I thought that this card would be much like the rest with a slight performance increase and a better cooling solution. But through testing and benchmarking, this card has impressed me with a sizable performance increase, a good overclocking experience and all for a price that at this time is under US$200."

ASUS P5N7A-VM GeForce 9300 mATX Motherboard | Posted on: 05/02/2009 @ 12:00

Although the P5N7A-VM's stock performance would normally be more than enough for most home theater PC or basic home desktop tasks, overclocking could be beneficial. The P5N7A-VM offers very basic overclocking functionality, but it was more than enough to allow me to overclock the Q6600 to 3.0 GHz (9x333) with a stock Intel heatsink.

Icy Dock MB671SK Internal SATA HDD Enclosure Review | Posted on: 03/02/2009 @ 6:08

I'll be honest - I never knew how useful an internal enclosure could be until I tried out this offering from Icy Dock.
