Samsung today became the first memory maker to begin shipping 16GB DDR3 modules based on the 50nm DDR3 fabrication process. The new modules will be shipped in 18 different configuration types ranging from DRAM to RIMM and everything in between.Samsung claims they are the first to offer 16GB RDIMMS that operate at only 1.35 volts, which provides up to 20% in savings in power consumption compared to its rivals."Samsung's 16GB RDIMM also features a dual-die package configuration, which is more efficient in cost and performance over the widely discussed quad-die configuration," it's press release stated.
