Microsoft confirmed in an interview on Monday that Windows 7, it's next desktop operating system, will be in stores by the holiday shopping season this year. "We are tracking well to a Windows 7 holiday," Microsoft Senior Vice President Bill Veghte said in the interview. This coincides with rumors from computer makers that Windows would ship in late October. Microsoft released Windows 7 RC to the public earlier this month and is on schedule for the Windows 7 RTM in July or August time frame.
