Amazon yesterday slashed the price of its Amazon Kindle 2 E-Book reader by $60 bringing the price of the unit from $359 down to $299. This is the first price cut ever to the Kindle and Amazon said that they were able to do this because they have increased sales and have therefore lowered manufacturing costs. With the Kindle 2 being priced at just under $300 bucks, will this price point magically open the doors to a wider audience? I tend to think not. If you have anyone willing to spend $300 or more for an e-book reader, they would probably just as easily spend another $60 or even for that matter go for the gold and get the new Kindle DX which is significantly more.
