On Wednesday a bill was introduced in the Senate that would force all states to write laws prohibiting texting while driving and failure to do so would result in the state losing 25% of their annual highway money that they receive from the federal government.The newly introduced bill comes at a time when the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute released a study on drivers and found that drivers who text message are 23 times more at risk of having an accident than those that don't. Some of the drivers didn't look up from texting for at least 5 seconds which results in driving the length of a football field at normal speeds of 55-65 MPH. During this length of a football field, anything could of happened and the driver was not looking.
