After the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show concluded, Benchmark Reviews was fortunate enough to test a few Solid State Drive samples built from the Marvell 88SS8014-BHP2 Da-Vinci SATA controller chip. While very little information is openly availble on the Marvell part at this time, one important feature has been revealed: this is the first SATA-6Gbps Generation-III SSD available to the retail market. Introduced with the Plextor LA-32M1S \'Strong-Page\' and LA-64M1S MLC SSD, and expected to be the foundation for other products such as the Crucial RealSSD-C300, the Marvell 88SS8014 chip is the latest addition to Solid State Drive control processors.
